IELTS, or the International English Language Testing System, assesses the language ability of those who intend to study or work where English is the principal language of communication. The IELTS test has four modules: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. A passing score is needed to qualify for a UK visa or be accepted at a university.
The IELTS Preparation courses at English Minds are offered at Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced levels. Students may participate in elective sessions that help them strengthen areas that need improvement. After completing the course, students will be ready to sit their IELTS examinations.
This section of the IELTS Preparation Course requires students to read and understand texts from books, magazines, and newspapers. After mastering this section, they progress to academic texts. Exercises include:
Upon completion of the Reading Module, the student will be able to read English-language texts of varying complexity and do well in an academic environment.
Students learn to produce both regular and academic-level texts in English. The topics provided tend to be general interest in scope, and easy for undergraduate or postgraduate-level learners to understand. Exercises include:
After the module ends, the student’s ability to write clear and logical English texts will be proficient enough to qualify them for university admission.
These classes cultivate the listening skills needed for everyday communication in the UK. Students learn to understand both simple and complex conversations and correctly rephrase what they have been told. Exercises include listening to and understanding:
The Listening Module enhances the student’s ability to understand spoken English, ensuring that they pass that section of the IELTS exam.
This module is designed to help students speak English clearly and with more confidence. At the beginning, learners will introduce themselves and talk about current events, popular culture, and things that interest them. Instructors will require all participants to speak both one-on-one and in group settings about different topics. Exercises include:
The Speaking Module prepares the student for the spoken part of the IELTS exam by making sure that they can converse comfortably about both general and academic topics.
Although English Minds can’t register students for the IELTS exam, instructors will be pleased to provide printed or pdf copies of the official exam booking form, which contains detailed instructions about registration and payment.
